Marqués de Campo is not just the town’s main shopping, economic and financial street, but also an architectural feature and a space which brings together the history and culture of the town, expressing the feelings and aspirations of its population, and offering leisure and enjoyment to visitors. It is the result of a complex process of urbanisation which culminated in 1917 when it was definitively opened up to the port. Its markedly Mediterranean character links the street directly with the sea, from where it seems to rise and into which it seems to flow, becoming one.
